From the people who have been through it
Khairul Hazwan
Hardware shop owner, Johor Bahru
"I had been running the shop for nine years and never really understood what the accounts were telling me beyond 'profitable or not'. The Numbers in Plain View session changed that. The summary document they produced was something I could actually read. I ended up sharing it with my wife, who helps with the bookkeeping, and she said it was the clearest financial picture she had seen of our business."

Restaurant owner, Skudai
"The Margin and Method review was useful, though I'll admit the first session felt overwhelming — there was a lot to take in at once. By the second session it made more sense. The recommendations were sensible and didn't ask me to do anything unrealistic for a small F&B operation. We adjusted our lunch set pricing and reduced two recurring costs. It took a while to see the difference but the numbers are better now."

Rajan Muthu
Logistics services, Pasir Gudang
"We are in the Quarterly Stewardship arrangement and it has become part of how I run the business. The monthly calls are short — maybe 25 minutes — but I leave each one knowing exactly what to watch over the next few weeks. The quarterly reviews are more thorough. What I appreciate is that they do not just summarise the past — they help me think about what is coming."

Nur Yusra
Boutique textile retailer, JB City
"I was a bit sceptical at first — I have spoken to advisors before who turned out to be more interested in selling other services. That did not happen here. The scope was exactly what they said it would be, the fee did not change, and at no point did anyone try to push me towards anything else. The financial summary was useful and I acted on two of the three next steps they suggested."

Tan Kok Wei
IT services, Johor Bahru
"We used the Margin and Method review after a year of growth that felt financially unclear. Revenue had gone up but I wasn't sure if we were actually more profitable or just busier. The review answered that question clearly, and the written recommendations gave us a sequence to work through. We followed four out of six of them over the following quarter."
March 2026 · Margin & Method Review
Faridah Abdullah
Catering business, Johor Bahru
"The session was calm, which I needed — I had been anxious about looking at my numbers properly for a long time. They did not make me feel silly for not knowing things, which I appreciated. The summary showed me what I already suspected about two cost areas. Having it written down made it easier to act on."

What the engagements looked like in practice
Three examples from past engagements — describing the situation, what we did together, and how things developed.
Case Study 01 · Numbers in Plain View
A sole trader who had never reviewed her figures with anyone
The situation
A home-based baker selling through social media and a small stall had been operating for three years. She was making money but had no clear picture of which products were genuinely profitable and which she was essentially subsidising.
What we did
We worked through twelve months of income and expenses together. The summary we produced broke down contribution by product line in plain terms. The session focused on three specific decisions she could make with the information.
Outcome
She discontinued two products that were not covering their material costs and adjusted pricing on two others. Within two months she had a clearer sense of what her business was actually earning. She has since referred two other small traders to us.
"I kept putting this off for two years because I was afraid of what the numbers might say. The session was gentler than I expected." — Siti Norhaiza, JB
Case Study 02 · Margin & Method Review
A building supplies trader whose margins had been shrinking for two years
The situation
A small building materials supplier in Johor Bahru had seen revenue hold steady but profits decline for two consecutive years. The owner attributed it to rising costs but had not examined whether pricing had kept pace.
What we did
Over five weeks we built a margin picture across twenty product categories. We found four areas where selling price had not been adjusted since 2022. We also identified a recurring supplier arrangement that had become unfavourable over time.
Outcome
The client adjusted prices across three categories and renegotiated terms with one supplier. The changes were modest but the margin picture improved measurably over the following quarter. The owner felt the engagement paid for itself within about eight weeks.
"I knew something was off but couldn't pinpoint it. Having it shown clearly in writing made the decision obvious." — Lim Cheng Hoe, Johor Bahru
Case Study 03 · Quarterly Stewardship
A growing cleaning services company navigating its first period of rapid expansion
The situation
A commercial cleaning business had grown from three to eleven staff in eighteen months. The owner was managing multiple contracts but felt the business was outgrowing his ability to track it financially. Cash flow timing had become unpredictable.
What we did
The six-month stewardship arrangement gave us a rhythm to work with. Quarterly reviews covered cash flow patterns, contract profitability and staff cost as a proportion of revenue. Monthly calls focused on whatever was most active that month.
Outcome
By month four, the owner had introduced a simple cash flow tracking habit that he maintained himself. He made one contract pricing adjustment based on our review. He renewed the stewardship arrangement for a second six-month period after the first concluded.
"The monthly calls kept me anchored. Even when it felt like things were moving too fast, having a check-in made it more manageable." — Amirul Syafiq, Johor Bahru
